Quite a few years back, a 16 year old 5 ft 5 in tall Indian boy entered International cricket against Pakistan in Karachi and scored a meager 15 runs and left the field disappointing a lot of Indians. Today, he is considered to be the greatest cricket player of all time. He is, as we all know, Sachin Tendulkar. A small boy, in the midst of cricketing giants and legends, reached heights that others could only wish for. It is a classic example of a nobody competing with many established greats to transform into a success story through the sheer brilliance of skill and hard work. That is what a small time online travel agency looks like, competing with OTA industry greats like the well established makemytrip, yatra, cleartrip etc. taking a brave step into the dauntingly overcrowded OTA, WTFares began its journey in 2013.
THE PILOTS OF WTFARES
With an experience that was very bad customer service from a very big travel agency that provided a non-existent hotel, Varun Sarda felt he could do a much better job than that. The flight of wtfares was a slow process which involved many ups and downs and the people driving it, trying to give it a distinction are Bhaskar Prakash, Gunjan Agarwalla and Vedant Sarda. With a 12 member workforce, they seem to believe in the idea of reinventing themselves to concretize the process of growth. Read Startup News.
MAKING THEIR OWN MARK
In an already overcrowded market place, the biggest challenge obviously is to stand out. After a few months of not more than 20 transactions/month, wtfares something was wrong and tried to incorporate a promotion and marketing strategy which ultimately led to a good amount of recognition. Even then it didn’t have any feature that made people take notice. After a few months of analyzing customer behavior research, they realized that 12 % of the customers cancelled their tickets. With this in mind, they charge a 10% premium on ticket fare with a minimum of Rs.125 which is non-refundable. Any booking can be cancelled and this will be refunded through a voucher which you can use on the website for further bookings. Consolidating and bringing in the impossibility of air ticket cancellation and turning it into a reality, required a lot of work. And it is paying off today as they have 750 transactions/month. They became the first ever OTA to offer this service. Along with this, they offer trips, hotels and planned tours. They bring to light small, exotic and sequestered places like Seychelles, Ladakh, Koh Samui and Santorini. This represents the zeal of Wtfares to help customers explore picturesque and unknown places.
FARING AND SOARING HIGH IN THE FUTURE
Now that the market has taken notice of these amateurs and believe that they are a force to reckon, wtfares is proud to have served about 20000 customers and to have reached their 1000th trip a few months back and they confidently proclaim that they are here to stay.
