Tech Startup Wydr, hires Phone Warrior Inc Ex-CEO as VP of Engineering

Wydr, a wholesale marketplace for mobile phone and its accessories have now hired former tech CEO of Phone Warrior Inc Chandan Gupta as their new VP of Engineering in order to expand their technical arm. Earlier this week, Wydr has also announced that Alok Verman from PepperFry will now work as Vice President of Operations.

Chandan Gupta now will be working at Wydr’s Gurugram corporate office. All these initiatives have come to action after Wydr raised Series A funding from Clutch of investors.

Commenting on his new role, Chandan Gupta said: “I believe that B2B e-commerce has very strong potential in becoming a real billion dollar business in India. When I met Devesh and Rishabh, VP, Business Development, I saw a great leadership team with very solid business experience and I immediately felt that the team is strongly positioned to occupy this space. I got pulled into this tremendously energetic startup to take its technology to the next level.”

Mr Gupta is a Techpreneur from Delhi with 2 startups over last 6 years. He has done his B.SC in computer science from Hansraj College and MCA in computer application from VJIT- University of Mumbai. Before Co-founding Phone Warrior Inc, Chandan Gupta worked as Senior Director at Snapdeal and also co-founder of other media startup Rambhai.com.

Phone Warrior Inc, is a bootstrapped Delhi-based startup offering an application that blocks spam calls and text messages. It is the only comprehensive application which takes care of all your Mobile Spam (Calls as well as SMS) and at the same time empowers you with the caller information through its rich Global Phone directory.

The social mobile application has the total of 6.5 Million downloads globally. Earlier in December 2013, Phone Warrior had raised seed from Lightspeed Venture partners and was acquired by Snapdeal in Oct 2015.

Welcoming him onboard, Devesh Rai, CEO, Wydr said, “Chandan’s e-commerce expertise and experience at Phone Warrior and Snapdeal will help us accelerate our tech goals.
