On the occasion of International Women Day, T-Hub and Anthill have launched an international startup initiative for women, Smart Women Angels Network (SWAN). The initiative is aimed at supporting Entrepreneurship among Women, creating awareness about investing and facilitates women with investments.
Lakshmi Manchu (Actor , Producer and Television personality), Lakshmi Namblar (Partner Anthill), Cristina Ventura (Chief Catalyst officer, The lane Crawford Joyce Group), Vanitha Datla (Vice Chair person Elico Ltd), Upasna Kamineni (Managing Director Apollo Life) togeather launched the SWAN at T-Hub.
T-Hub is a startup incubator set by the government of Telangana and Anthill is a Hyderabad-based speed scaling platform for early-growth stage startups.
With roots in Barcelona, SWAN aims to create an exclusive network for women business angels, deals promotion and conduct training and activities to promote business angels and entrepreneurs among women. SWAN plans to collaborate with their counterparts from across the world and invest in startups.
Jay Krishnan, CEO, T-Hub said, “To encourage women to be active members of the ecosystem, T-Hub in collaboration with Anthill, has launched SWAN in India. We truly believe this reputed program will not only suffuse the culture in the country but change the dynamics of the community to make it more inclusive.”
T-Hub is a public/private partnership between the Government of Telangana, three of India’s leading academic institutes (IIIT-H, ISB & NALSAR) and the private sector. It has over 2,000 start-ups in its database clustered into various stages of growth. Read more about T-Hub.
On the collaboration with T-Hub Prasad Vanga, founder and CEO, Anthill, said, “Along with our partnership with T-Hub, we hope to transform the Indian startup ecosystem, by creating valuable partnerships both nationally and internationally that will help startups scale.”
Anthill Ventures provides early-stage market positioning, sales partnering, technology refinements and metric management investments to SQ startups. Since its inception in 2015, it has built an impressive startup portfolio of 16 companies across India, US and South East Asia.
Cristina Ventura, President of SWAN and also an Angel and Fund-of- Funds Investor, said, “We recognise the potential of women investing in startups and how they are a crucial part of the global startup ecosystem. The percentage of women investors around the world is very less and in India, the numbers are very low.
