Logistics startup Emiza Supply Chain Services has bagged Series A funding of $4.5 Million (Rs 30 Crore). The funding is led by Silicon Valley-based venture capital firm Mayfield. Existing investors Nishant Rao, COO, Freshdesk, and Dileep Nath were also seen participating in the funding round.
The Mumbai-based startup was founded in August 2015, by Ajay Rao and Rajesh Sharma. Emiza is a tech-enabled 3PL with two distinct lines of business warehousing and less than truckload (LTL) distribution. Emiza has built its own network of hubs across North India and runs daily services across these hubs connecting part loads for its customers.
Emiza offers multi-client warehousing and fulfilment solutions to both offline and online customers. There are also the first 3PL in India to offer both Amazon seller flex (FBA) and SD+ from its own facility.
Ajay Rao CEO and Co-Founder of Emiza, said: “I saw that the SME logistics service was underserved. Most were focussing on automotive parts and nobody was focussing on the SME space. That’s why I felt that SMEs would get more prominence. So we decided to start to cover our warehousing business focussed on B2B and e-commerce fulfilment. When Rajesh joined in as the co-founder, we started our distribution business.”
According to the report ‘Logistics Market in India 2015-2020’ by market researcher Novonous, the entire logistics industry in India is pegged at $300 billion, growing at a CAGR of 12.17 percent by 2020.
Commenting on their Investment, Vikram Godse, managing partner at MF Advisors LLP, the Indian arm of Mayfield, said: “Primary distribution, as well as last-mile logistics, is a well-funded space in India. However, there is an absence of an established player to connect the dots between these two spaces.”
Recently, other logistics startups like ElasticRun, Delhivery, BlackBuck, Rivigo have also raised findings from different investors.
