The Chief Executive Officer of Google Inc., Sundar Pichai was born on 12 July 1972 in Madurai, Tamil Nadu. The most powerful technical brain, Pichai, joined Google as a Product Manager in 2004 and showed his efforts for many Google products like Chrome OS and Chrome. Pichai was born in Chennai, Tamil Nadu in a middle class family. His father worked as an Electrical Engineer and his mother used to work as a stenographer before having kids. Pichai was excellent in his academics – he completed his schooling from Chennai, and then did B.Tech from IIT Kharagpur in Metallurgical Engineering. Later he moved to abroad for his higher studies and earned the degree of MBA from Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and M.S. from Stanford University.
When Pichai started his career with Google, he initially used to work for Google search toolbar and later joined other major Google products like Google Pack & Gears. Eventually, the success of Google made him realize the need for Google’s own Search engine and so he started convincing Google’s co-founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin to launch its own browser. In 2008, Google successfully launched its search engine “Google Chrome” and since then Pichai has played a pivot role in the development of Chrome.
The same year, Pichai was promoted as the Vice President of Product Development and by 2012 he achieved the position of Senior Vice President with his hard work and full dedication towards his duties. In 2013, Larry Page gave him Andy Rubin’s Android project as he himself had to leave for a different project. Therefore, not much later in October 2014, Sundar Pichai gained one position up and became the Product Chief. In 2014, he was considered as a tough competitor for the position of Microsoft’s CEO, but later that position was given to Satya Nadella. However, seems like success was already in store for him, Pichai was finally declared the CEO of Google on 10 August 2015.

Sundar Pichai married Anjali, whom he met during his IIT days. The couple now lives in Los Altos Hills with their two kids – daughter Kavya and son Kiran. Sundar Pichai’s net salary is Rs.335 Crore ($50 million) approximately and he owns Google’s shares worth £142 million which makes him one of the highest paid Indian CEOs.
