Bengaluru based sports tech startup gets an undisclosed amount of funding for expansion in business

Sports Infrastructure booking platform, Athletto has raised an undisclosed amount in funding from industrialist and sport lover, Atul Ingle. Athletto is registered trademark of O Tree Solutions Private Limited.

Atul is the managing director at Nagpur-based Renuka Electricals & Controls Pvt Ltd who liked the team’s vision, passion, knowledge and their business model of getting sports onto a digital platform.

Athletto was started in April 2015 by alumni of IIM-Ahmedabad and NITIE, Ujwal Sutaria and Narayana Vyas, along with Praveen Gadpayle. All three are passionate about sports and what to digitalize this unorganized sector. Ujwal and Vyas are themselves former national level tennis players.

“Our vision is a world where each and every human being is able to play the sport of their choice daily throughout the year. In order to bring about this change, it is important that we reach the masses. That reach is possible only through judicious use of technology. We are a bunch of sports loving people from IIT, IIM , NIT, NID, BITS and NIFT, who are serious about bringing a change to this ecosystem” says the team.

Athletto provides a cloud based common web platform, mobile application and customized dashboard for all the sports enthusiasts ranging from players, aficionados, professionals, coaches, sports academy managers, tournament organizers, etc. Athletto gives easy access to all kind of sports related services like Sports Infrastructure Booking, Coaching, Tournaments, etc. They want sports arenas toshift from pen and paper operations to a cloud based system, which can be managed from anywhere and from any device.

The founding team says there are more than 2.5 lakhs of sports facilities spread across private, government, schools, colleges and residential complexes. Presently there is only a 10-15% occupancy. This cloud based platform see a scope of occupancy improvement to 50-60%.

The newly raised capital will be used to expand their effort to onboard all the sports facilities on the platform all around India. They are also looking at expanding their team size, improve customer experience, and improve technology.

Athletto, presently has verified more than 8000 sports facilities across eight cities for listing and partnered with more than 400 sports facilities across Bangalore for online booking. The startup claims that currently the platform is facilitating 200+ daily transactions and have already facilitated more than 40,000 transactions handling an amount of INR 1.5 Cr in less than 10 months.

Athletto is competing with other players like GoSporto, that has raised $30,000 USD in funding from Singapore-based angel investor Naveen Gupta.
