Reliance Nippon Life Insurance appoints Ashish Vohra as CEO

Ashish Vohra takes up CEO position of Reliance Nippon Life Insurance which was vacant since Anup Rau left in June 2016. Previously this new CEO was the Senior Director & Chief Distribution Officer of Max Life Insurance for more than 6 years.

Ashish comes with more than 25 years of industry experience working in Fullerton India Credit Co, Citibank and Eicher Motors. He has a master degree from IIM Bangalore, and did his undergrad from Banaras Hindu University.

“The Board is delighted to appoint Ashish Vohra as the new CEO of Reliance Nippon Life Insurance. Ashish brings with him vast experience across multiple domains in the life insurance business. He has strong leadership skills and proven track record of delivering high business performance, channel profitability and 13-month persistency,” said Sam Ghosh, Executive Director and Group CEO, Reliance Capital in a statement to media.

The previous CEO Anup Rau left the position due to some disagreement on business direction with the board. Currently Anup is the General Manager –Asia of Nippon Life. Reliance Life Insurance took some serious market share hits due to FDI increasing to 49%. Tough competition from HDFC Life and Max Life has become a nightmare for this Indian Insurance company. Now they hired a resource from their competition. Let’s sit back and watch if Ashish Vohra will take Reliance Nippon Life Insurance to a new level.
