2 days back Snapdeal announced that they are creating space for ex-ceo of housing.com Jason Kothari in their leadership team. Jason will be given the responsibility of Chief Strategy Officer (CSO) and would be working closely with co-founders Kunal Bahl and Rohit Bansal.
All looks good on paper, but will this new CSO push Snapdeal to the top beating Amazon and Flipkart? In Housing.com Jason took over the seat of the famous bad ass startup CEO Rahul Yadav in August 2015. Post this transition, Housing.com has seen good days by changing their strategy. Operation costs reduced by more than 60%, employees were restructured from 2500 to sharp 900. New funds were raised.
On the other hand Snapdeal already spent Rs 200 crore on their new marketing campaign that increased the shopping traffic for few months. This did not help them go close to their competitors Fkipkart and Amazon. Jason’s profile looks good on paper. He proved his strategy in Housing but ecommerce is different from real estate industry and Snapdeal needs to push revenues and market share to raise next level of funds.
Jason in a statement to media told that he is excited to join Snapdeal leadership team, especially when ecommerce industry is shaping up in India. Read more Indian Startup News.
