The Bihar Government is running a state-wide campaign called ‘Bano Udyami’ (become an entrepreneur in Bihari) to promote entrepreneurship in the state. The Government is conducting seminars in all the colleges and universities in Bihar to educate students about entrepreneurship and encourage them to become entrepreneurs.
According to KNNIndia, the campaign was launched on 15/01/2018 with the help of the District Industries Centre (DIC) of Bihar. The plan of the campaign is to conduct seminars about entrepreneurship in five colleges/universities per month and thereby cover all the colleges and universities in Bihar during a time-span of seven months. Around five lakh students currently study in all the universities and colleges of Bihar combined.
During the seminars, students were educated about all the entrepreneurship development schemes run by both the state and central governments such as Prime Minister Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP), Start-up India Stand-up India, Start-up Bihar, Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana, Chief Minister MSME (Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises) Cluster Development scheme, Bihar Industrial Investment Promotion Policy, 2016 and Bihar Startup Policy. Officials led by the general manager of District Industries Centre (DIC) will educate the youth about the features of the schemes and how to avail them. The ‘Bano Udyami’ campaign has been launched in all the 38 districts in Bihar in order to motivate youths to become job providers rather than job seekers.
Ever since the ‘Startup India Stand up India’ scheme was launched by PM Modi in 2015, a number of Indian states like Karnataka, Seemandhra, Telangana, Kashmir, Kerala, Odisha, Bihar, Rajasthan, Delhi, etcetera have launched their own schemes to promote entrepreneurship in their state. This campaign launched by the Bihar Government falls in line with that trend. India is a land of youthful talent. There are many talented and hardworking youth in India who have started a business of their own and whose startups provide essential products or services to the society. If all the remaining states in India take cue from the above-mentioned states and launch schemes to fund, incubate and promote startups in their state, the startups in India will become MNCs and make India proud in the global stage.
