Healthtech startup Doctor Insta secures funds of $2.5 million

Doctor Insta is a Gurgaon – based health tech startup that enables its users to fix an appointment or seek medical advice with any of the doctors in its database. It has recently secured an investment of U.S. $2.5 million from its existing investor, RoundGlass Partners, in series A round of funding. The fund supplied by the investment will be used by Doctor Insta to market its two new products, Health ATM and Insta Wall. A portion of the fund will be used for product development, expansion of its team and launch of its Omni – channel healthcare networks across India and other countries. Read more on Investments

“India is a huge potential market wherein the size of the healthcare industry is $126 billion and the total addressable market is $25 billion. We have been growing in high double digits month over month and are planning to penetrate deep into the urban and rural areas of the country”, said Amit Munjal, CEO at Doctor Insta.

Doctor Insta was founded by Munjal in 2015. The startup provides medical consultations across its web and mobile platforms, for customers looking for advice in domains like general medicine, psychology, sexology, dermatology, gynecology amongst others. It claims to have a strict selection process for doctors selected to connect with the users on its platform. It claims that only doctors who had graduated from the finest medical colleges in India and who are highly rated by patients and peers alike are chosen to connect with the users on its platform. The startup had previously secured US $500, 000 form its existing investors like BrahmaX Ventures and its angel investor, Rishi Parti in December last year (2015).

Healthtech startups are gaining popularity in India because the healthcare industry is very large in India (pegged at US $126 billion) and also because customers find it very convenient to fix an appointment or seek medical advice from a doctor over a mobile app or the internet rather than going from place to place in search of a doctor. It saves them a lot of time and effort. As only the best doctors are chosen to interact with Doctor Insta’s users, they can be sure of getting good medical advice or medicines if they consult a doctor through Doctor Insta’s mobile app. The services provided by Doctor Insta are very useful and ‘need of the hour’ as far as India is concerned.
