The Bohri Kitchen is Mumbai – based food tech startup that specializes in preparing and delivering dishes/food that are unique to the Dawoodi Bohra community in Mumbai. The startup has announced today (18/12/2017) that it has secured an undisclosed amount of seed funding from the VC firm, Venture Catalysts. Anuj Puri from Anarock Consultants, Abhishek Agarwal from Rockstud Capital, Anirudh Damani from Artha India Ventures, Riyaaz Amlani from F&B and the food chef Rahul Akerkar also participated in that round of funding. The Bohri Kitchen was founded by Munaf Kapadia and his mother in 2014. The startup prepares home-made dishes that have been traditionally consumed by the Dawoodi Bohra community in Mumbai for centuries/generations. These dishes are unique to that community.
“When I first thought of the idea that would materialise into The Bohri Kitchen, I was confident of the viability of such a concept in the market. The response that we’ve had so far has just strengthened that belief”, said Munaf Kapadia, Founder and CEO of The Bohri Kitchen.
Mr. Kapadia formerly worked at the search engine giant, Google, before founding The Bohri Kitchen. Mr. Kapadia has also won the Forbes India 30 Under 30 awards in 2015 for founding The Bohri Kitchen.
“The startup has grown from strength to strength, setting up a delivery kitchen and slowly expanding into the restaurant vertical as well. We are confident that The Bohri Kitchen (TBK) will continue to set new benchmarks in the experiential dining space and garner exponential success”, said Anuj Puri, Chairman of Anarock Consultants, who is an investor in the startup.
TBK is also looking to hire more specialized chefs who can prepare dishes unique to the Dawoodi Bohra community very well. The menu of The Bohri Kitchen will also be discussed and finalized shortly. Currently, the menu of TBK is:
