Bengaluru based Lavelle Networks gets funded by Ideaspring

Lavelle Networks is a Bengaluru – based startup in the Software Defined Networking (SDN) domain. The startup has recently received funding up to the tune of US $600,000 from the early stage venture capital fund, Ideaspring Capital. The startup is also a part of Microsoft’s Startup Accelerator program. It has been chosen for the latest batch of that program. Lavelle Networks offers an SDN platform which helps enterprises securely connect to multiple locations over the Internet. Lavelle Networks was founded in early 2015 by former IT professionals Shyamal Kumar and Karthik Madhava. The startup collaborates with six enterprises in India and one enterprise in the Middle East. The companies with which the startup collaborates are mainly in the domains of retail, healthcare, hospitality and insurance.

“The new funding will be used for expansion and marketing. With our entry into the Microsoft Accelerator, we also look forward to build business relations with the company for its Azure cloud platform”, Kumar said.

Ideaspring Capital was founded by the angel investors, Naganand Doraswamy and Arihant Patni. Together they invested Rs. 125 crores to found the Venture Capital firm, Ideaspring Capital. Ideaspring Capital invests on startups that focus on product innovation and that can scale globally.

“Lavelle Networks is working on an innovative product based on SDN that makes it very easy for organizations to deploy their wide area networks. We are very excited to partner with the Lavelle Networks team, who have deep experience in networking and help them scale their company”, Doraswamy said.

This investment in Lavelle Networks marks Ideaspring Capital’s second seed investment so far. Last week, it had invested US $500,000 in the Chennai – based tech startup Karomi, which offers a packaging artwork management software product for Pharma and FMCG units. Doraswamy said that before investing on a startup, Ideaspring evaluates the quality of the startup’s team, the founder’s understanding of the domain, the scope of the product or service and other technical parameters.

Connecting to the internet securely is vital for most organizations in the world. They would need to connect to the internet to distribute or organize their workload, keep track of employees’ attendance and employees’ activities, make future plans or strategies with employees in distant locations, maintain an online database on the wok done and to be done among so many other requirements. Data security is also of utmost importance since any leak in sensitive corporate information could spell disaster for companies. The tech startup, Lavelle Networks addresses these needs and issues by allowing corporates to connect to different locations on the internet, using their SDN platform, securely. It is heartening to see an innovative and useful startup like Lavelle Network get funded. The government of India must create a business friendly environment in India by giving tax exemptions among other benefits to startups to promote investments on useful startups.
