To all our Christian viewers, Merry Christmas! To all our viewers in general, happy New Year (2018) in advance! In this article, I am going to talk about those startups that were founded in 2017 or a few years before and which look promising to become MNCs by the end of 2018. Let get straight to the point.

  • Tonbo:


Founder and CEO: Arvind Lakshmikumar is the founder and CEO of Tonbo.

About the startup: Tonbo designs advanced night-vision imaging systems for Para military forces so that its military vehicles can see clearly and navigate during night time, in foggy conditions, in dusty and smoky conditions and during times of heavy rain and snowfall. These night-vision imaging systems can be custom fitted to any military vehicle be it a military tank or a transport vehicle or a UAV or a helicopter or a fighter plane. The startup was founded in 2012 and is looking to expand globally by the end of 2018.

About the startup: Uniphore Software Systems is a Chennai-based Speech Recognition software company that makes human interaction with software seamless and effortless by deploying software which accurately recognise human speech. Its speech recognition software has features like Speech Analytics, Virtual Assistant and Voice Biometrics to make human interaction with software easy and accurate.

  • Parallel Dots:


Co-founders: Angam Parashar, Ankit Singh and Muktabh Mayank.

About the startup: If you are a content writer for any online media company and have published a lot of articles but don’t quite know how to make the best use of your archive, Parallel Dots can help you there. Parallel Dots is a software which employs an algorithm that automatically searches for important events related to the content you have published. The events are published automatically by the software on an interactive timeline in the website. The helps reduce the bounce rate and increases the number of viewers to your website.

Co-founders: Unbxd was founded in 2011 by Sondur and Prashant Kumar.

DocTalk has tie-ups with a lot of doctors and hospitals, who are available for service on its mobile app. The startup operates in all major cities and towns in India and is looking to expand globally by the end of 2018.

  • Swiggy:


Co-founders: Sriharsha Majety, Rahul Jaimini and Nandan Reddy.

About the startup: Everybody loves good food and Swiggy is by far the most popular food ordering and delivery platform in India. The startup has secured hundreds of millions of dollars through investments so far and has been completely funded (i.e., the startup has secured upto Series F round of funding) by angel investors and VC firms. The startup is operational in all the important cities and towns in India. The startup’s mobile app has witnessed millions of downloads this year (2017) alone. Swiggy delivers food from the finest of restaurants near your place and has good user reviews. It, no doubt, is one of the most promising startups to become MNCs. Swiggy’s revenue had grown multi fold during 2017 to Rs. 23.59 crores from just Rs. 11.59 lakhs during 2016!

  • TempoGo:


Founder:  Pranav Shirke

About the startup: TempoGo manufactures IoT based sensors that can be fitted on transport vehicles to monitor the vehicle’s location (using a GPS – based hardware unit in the sensor), the vehicle’s speed, the vehicle’s fuel consumption and it can also be used to monitor the temperature in refrigeration trucks. In short, all aspects of a transport vehicle’s behaviour can be monitored using TempoGo’s sensors. The startup has raised crores of rupees through investments and is looking forward to a PAN-India expansion next year (2018).

  • Qubole:


Founder: Ashish Thusoo and Joydeep Sen Sarma

About the startup: Qubole develops Big Data – based software for corporates that employ best-in-class analytics techniques which helps corporates take accurate and fast business decisions in a cost-effective way. The startup has secured hundreds of millions of dollars through investments from VC firms and angel investors so far. The startup is looking to expand its presence globally by the end of 2018.

  • Cleanmax Solar:


Founder and MD: Kuldeep Jain

About the startup: Cleanmax Solar is India’s largest solar energy provider for households and industries. The solar electricity and solar panels provided by the startup are cost effective and efficient. The startup currently provides 100 MW of solar power to industries and homes and is expected to provide upto 250 MW of solar power to industries and homes by the end of 2018. The startup has secured billions of dollars through investments and is looking to expand globally.

  • Goomo:


Founder: Varun Gupta

About the startup: Goomo is India’s number one travel and holiday booking platform. The startup has raised hundreds of millions dollars through investments and is looking to expand globally. Users can book flights to their holiday destinations as well as book hotels in their holiday destinations using the startup’s website. Users can also book homestays using the startup’s website.
