Indra Nooyi is part of Donald Trump’s economic council

The Indian – American CEO of PepsiCo, Indra Nooyi, has been chosen to be part of the US president, Donald Trump’s economic advisory council. Uber’s CEO, Travis Kalanick and SpaceX and Tesla’s chairman, Elon Musk are also part of the 19 – member strong, economic advisory council. Indra Nooyi had openly supported the Democratic presidential nominee, Hillary Clinton during her campaign. “I had to answer a lot of questions from my daughters and from our employees. “The forum is designed to provide direct input to the president from many of the best and brightest minds in the business world in a frank, non-bureaucratic and non-partisan manner”, Donald Trump’s transition team said.

The economic advisory council will be headed by Stephen A Schwartzman, chairperson, CEO and co-founder of the investment firm, Blackstone.

“My administration is going to work together with the private sector to improve the business climate and make it attractive for firms to create new jobs across the United States, from the Silicon Valley to the heartland”, Donald Trump said.

Indra Nooyi has graduated from Madras Christian College in Chennai and has completed management degrees from Indian Institute of Management – Kolkata (IIM) and then from Yale University in New Haven. PepsiCo is the biggest food and beverage company in the US, with more than one lakh employees and 100 plants across the country. Its annual net revenue stands at $63 billion (approximately Rs 4,19,000 crores).

Donald Trump was a renowned businessman and a realtor in the US before he was elected as the President of the US. He knows a lot about business especially in the real estate sector. He is an excellent example of a charismatic leader. Many people view Trump as larger than life because of his energizing capability, his ability to envision the future and support others while inculcating confidence in them. He wrote many books which became famous worldwide for their entrepreneurial guidance. They include: ‘Trump: The Art of the Deal’, ‘Think big: Make it happen in Business and Life’, ‘Think like a champion: An Informal Education in Business and Life’, ‘Trump 101: The Way to Success’, ‘Trump: How to Get Rich’, ‘Trump: Surviving at the Top’, just to mention a few. There will be a lot of new jobs created in the US, by the advice of this council, which will improve the living standards of the people of US as well as the economy of the US. It is a matter of pride for India that an Indian – American like Indra Nooyi has been selected as a part of Donald Trump’s economic advisory council.
