AlmaMapper Technologies Pvt Ltd is an Ahmedabad – based networking and learning platform for colleges. The company had announced yesterday (17/05/2017) that it has purchased the campus recruitment startup, VibrantMinds Technologies Pvt Ltd. This acquisition will help AlmaMapper expand its presence and its services throughout India and will enable it to have tie ups with more than 300 companies. Read more on Student apps
AlmaMapper was founded in 2014 by Kaul Sharma and Chandra Mauli Sharma, both alumni of Nirma University. It is a mobile platform/app that connects teachers and students across various universities. The services which teachers and students can get through the app include discovery of campuses, alumni’s notes on various subjects, information on various courses offered in various collages, information on various events taking place in various collages and information on jobs and internships offered by various companies. The app is available for free download and currently has over eight lakh students registered with it. Students can also buy student – specific products at discounted rates using the app. For campuses, the app provides services such as an alumni management system, campus promotion, online report generation, analytics dashboard and direct admission leads.
AlmaMapper had raised US $400,000 (Rs. 2.6 crores) in seed funding from Oswal Techno Ventures LLP during April, 2016. VibrantMinds was founded by Vikas Krishna Shinde in June 2014. The Pune – based company provides services such as campus hiring, talent evaluation and resume building. The startup has tie – ups with colleges, universities and IT companies across the country.
A few of the stud – tech startups that got funded recently include: MarkShark which raised US $20 million in pre – series round of funding from Sequoia Capital Ltd during January, this year (2017), during April, this year (2017), the edutech startup, Myly had secured Rs. 1.61 crores in seed funding from SIDBI, during March, this year (2017), the edutech startup, Byju’s Pvt Ltd had bagged US $30 million in Series F round of funding from Brussels – based family office, Verlinvest, during March, this year (2017), the edutech startup, Nactus had raised an undisclosed amount of angel funding from a group of angel investors and finally during February, this year (2017), the edutech startup, Neostencil has raised US $1 Million in seed round of funding from the media house firm, Times Group and California – Based Paragon Trusts.
